Human Behavioral Pharmacology Laboratory

University of Chicago — Department of Psychiatry

Under the direction of professor Harriet de Wit, the Human Behavioral Pharmacology Laboratory (HBPL) investigates the determinants and the consequences of drug and alcohol use by measuring physiological, behavioral and subjective effects of acute doses of psychoactive drugs in human volunteers.

We are part of a network of laboratories at the University of Chicago that offers training to individuals interested in the neuropharmacology of drug abuse. Research training opportunities range from molecular biology and receptor pharmacology, to behavioral research with laboratory animals and clinical studies with human volunteers.
